I want nothing more than for my baby girl to grow up knowing her Heavenly Father and having a real relationship with Jesus, and I don’t think there is any better way to encourage that than to start diving into the word with her as early as possible.
Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
I’m taking this verse to heart and have started a daily devotional time with Grace already. While she may not really understand any of our reading and discussion yet, making this a part of our day sets the precedent that spending time with God each day is a priority in our lives.
To help us dig a little deeper, especially as she gets older, I am planning out our studies and including three components for each week:
- A key verse
- A focus story
- At least one activity
Since I’ll be creating each of these components for us, I thought I’d share. It’s always been my dream that Living Contently would be a space that others could come to find encouragement and inspiration to live a more authentic and God-focused life. So, I hope you’ll join me in training up my little one in the way she should go by doing the same with yours.
These stories and activities won’t be elaborate. In fact, they’ll likely be something you can accomplish in 5-10 minutes because…baby! But, even five minutes focused on God each day is a great start for a little heart.
Tune in next week for our first official installment of Tuesday Tidbits! I can’t wait to see how our little ones (and all of us) grow through this!
What is your favorite devotional for you and your little one? Do you do daily devotions as a family?
