It is my desire for Grace that she know God has something for her to do, plans for her to accomplish from a very young age. Honestly, we speak that into her every night. But, I don’t ever want to take for granted the fact that God also makes that promise in His word.
So, this week, we’re focusing on Jeremiah 29:11,
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
This honestly is one of my all-time favorite verses. I don’t know how many times in my life I have felt lost, confused, frustrated…And then I look at this verse, and it’s such a sweet reminder.
I want Grace to have that same reminder whenever she needs it. God is on our side. He has plans for us. He has something for us to do. He wants to give us hope. In Him, we have a future.
It is such an encouraging, rewarding thought to know that God, the king of the universe has plans for little old me! I want to instill that same sense of awe at His plans in Grace. So, this week we’ll learn the verse, and we’ll talk about some of the ways God has already fulfilled His promise in her life, like keeping her healthy despite her marginal cord.
It’s often easy to overlook the fact that God has something in mind for us, especially when we’re in the midst of a struggle. I hope by focusing on this verse now and in the years that Grace is growing up, we can help her focus on God’s promises first rather than just being consumed in her struggle. God has plans for her, for me, and for you and your child. How will you start instilling that in him or her today?
