Whether you have kids heading back to school or you just enjoy the end of summer as the passing of another season, you need to make the most of the time you have in every season. Especially as we’ve been enjoying the journey of watching our baby grow and anxiously awaiting her arrival, we’ve realized how fast time really does pass and have made it somewhat of a goal to use our time wisely. As we attempt to do that, we find it helpful to make a list of “things to do” each season, particularly during the summer.
While the list isn’t exhaustive and is really just for fun, it helps us make sure we’re not only accomplishing important tasks but also just enjoying life. So, what are a few things that we plan to do before the end of summer and think you should too? Check out the list for yourself!
1. Have a Cookout
While you can cookout during other seasons, there is nothing quite like enjoying a summer cookout. This one is a must on our list!
2. Eat S’mores
Need I say more?
3. Go Swimming
I’ve always loved swimming and honestly have enjoyed it even more this summer being pregnant. The water is great for helping me cool off and taking a bit of weight off my ever-growing belly.
4. Read a Book
I’ve been reading mostly pregnancy-related books right now, but even those help me to relax and calm my mind a bit.
5. Spend Time with Friends
Whether it is having a cookout, going for ice creams, or just stopping to chat, spending time with friends is a top priority for us, too.
6. Do Nothing
Okay, so this one obviously sounds a little funny. But, seriously, I get so caught up in getting things done that I seldom just sit and enjoy. So, taking a day to do nothing is on my bucket list for summer.
7. Have a Picnic
8. Visit a Park
9. Go Camping
This one might be easier said than done for us this summer, but camping is still one of my favorite summer pastime. So, hopefully we can still make it happen to head out on a camping trip somewhere.
10. Have Corn on the Cob
Corn on the cob is one of my favorite summer foods. We’ve enjoyed it several times this summer, and I’ve discovered my new favorite way to make it is on the grill.
11. Go for a Bike Ride
This may be one that my husband has to do solo this year, but biking is another fun way to spend some time in the summer.
12. Have Homemade Ice Cream
We are all about the ice cream at our house and have been to our favorite local place that serves homemade ice cream a few several times this summer. I want to get on the ball and make some homemade at home before the end of summer, too, though.
13. Go Fishing
It’s been longer than I’d like to admit since I’ve been fishing, but I’d love to get to go sometime before the end of summer this year.
14. Take a Walk at Dusk
We’ve taken several walks this summer, but there is just something so captivating about summer at dusk. I want to try to get outside to walk at dusk a few times before the weather starts changing so I can take a few pictures.
15. See a Drive-In Movie
So, last year was actually the first time I have ever been to a drive-in movie, but it quickly became a favored summer pastime for me. We haven’t made it to one yet this year, but I’m hoping before the end of summer we’ll be able to make it to the drive in.
Summer offers so much more freedom to enjoy the outdoors and a little downtime. Many of my favorite summertime activities are outdoors, so I try to keep a running list of them, like this one. Before you head back to school or watch the summer days fade into the brilliant colors of fall, take some time to enjoy and do these summer activities before the season is over!
What are your favorite summer activities?
