There are few things I find more festive than peppermint and chocolate at Christmas time! There is just something about that flavor that I love! Instead of reaching for the traditional option, though, I decided to whip up this Superfoods Peppermint Patties! They still give me the yummy flavor I’m looking for, but they’re also full of all the good stuff my body needs. So I can stop at just one instead of eating the whole bag of chocolate!
If you’ve been around here long, you know I love all things sweet. But what you may not know is that I also love all things breakfast. In fact, I can still remember Saturday mornings when my dad would get up before the rest of us and fix a big breakfast, and to this day, I still love when we’re visiting for the weekend and my dad makes one of his breakfasts. As we rounded the bend to yet another display and another handful of candy, one of the “treaters” said to me…”It’s your favorite night of the year, right?” As we laughed knowing that she was being sarcastic and making light of the fact that we typically try to keep our candy and namely sugar intake to a minimum, it made me think. I don’t necessarily love the onslaught of candy that the Halloween is known for, but truth be told, because our focus is balance, I don’t mind the occasional treat (or trick) here or there. I do try to do my best to keep it all in moderation, though, so I thought I’d share a few of my tips for enjoying a healthy and Happy Halloween!

Today not much has changed. I still love sharing baked goods with my sweet little family. But instead of the regular variety, I tweak my recipes to make them a little more nutritious (without sacrificing on flavor)!
