Rapid Rebuild Week 1 Progress

It’s been a while since I really chronicled my progress through a program, so I decided as I was committing to this new program and following it by the book, I should. I’m not at a point that I’m really trying to actively lose weight any more, but it’s still fun to challenge myself and see what my body can do. And this program is helping me do just that!

If you’ve been following along with any of my Live Video Journals, you know that I’ve been a bit intimidated by this program. It’s designed by a trainer who typically works with athletes, so as a complete non-athlete…I wasn’t sure it was going to be for me. While it has been challenging, I’m enjoying the challenge and feel like I’m already getting faster on my feet and more nimble. Not only that, but I’m having huge mental shifts – which is always my favorite part of any program.

One of my favorite parts of the program are the “Shop Rules.” This component is essentially the mental focus for each workout/day, and I find it really motivating and enlightening. A few of the rules we’ve encountered so far are:

  • Try before you modify.
  • You need form to perform.
  • Breathe through it.
  • Love yourself.
  • Don’t let the move finish you; you finish the move.

Each day I find myself really clinging to the rules as I move through the workout. And especially as the workouts get longer (and the carbs get fewer), I know that’s going to be even more true.

Now, I know that the progress you really want to see/here is the physical result…Because let’s be honest, that’s the most noticeable, right?! Like I said, I’m not really focused on the weight, but I have already dropped 2 pounds and am starting to see a notice in the definition in my stomach. I’m interested to see what my Week 2 progress pictures look like as we up the intensity this week!
