I’m always looking for sweet alternatives, especially since I’ve been sticking to a very low to no added sugar diet. Now, before we got anywhere, don’t get me wrong. I love a sweet treat every now and then, but I feel SO much better when I’m off processed sugar and limit even natural sugars like honey. So, I’ve gotten a little creative on how to sweeten things, so I thought I’d share one of my new favorites!
You know how sometimes you just need that little “treat” fix whether it’s for breakfast or just a snack? Well, I do, and it was that sweet tooth beckoning.
Now, it might sound a little strange, but don’t knock it until you try it, okay? 😉 And, just let this be a little forewarning if you’re used to having things be super-sweet, this probably isn’t going to cut it for you. But, if you’ve been following a relatively low sugar diet and enjoying natural sugars like the sweetness of fruit, this should give you just the hint of sweetness you’re looking for!
- ¼ cup old fashioned oats
- ½ cup water
- ½ banana, mashed
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- 2 tsp natural peanut butter
- ½ tsp vanilla
- Combine oats, water, and mashed banana.
- Microwave on high for 2 minutes.
- Remove from microwave and add remaining ingredients.
- Stir until well combined. Enjoy!
That’s right! It’s that simple to get a sweet treat and enjoy a little “indulgence” without going off your plan! I love having this as a snack or even a special snack every now and then!
