Let me be totally honest with you…I was always the girl who hated working out. (Truth be told, I hated the thought of a workout. I even hated to sweat.)
But once I started working out and looking at it as an opportunity to take care of myself, I started enjoying it! Okay, okay, that may be stretching it a little…I’d still rather be snuggled on the couch with my little reading our favorite books, but you get what I mean.
So when I start dreading my workouts and pushing them until as late in the day as possible, I know something is up. When that starts happening, I know it’s time to try something new. And while I know everyone is different, I bet the same is true for you too. So I want to share a few ways you can tell it’s time to switch up your workout routine plus a simple solution that’s made that “switching it up” thing easier than ever for me!
Signs It’s Time to Try a New Workout
1. You find yourself dreading your workout.
Working out isn’t meant to be a punishment or something you dread. It should be a way to take care of yourself and celebrate what your body can do. So if you find yourself dreading it, it’s probably time to switch things up.
2. You can’t get motivated to do your workout.
This probably goes without saying, but if you can’t get motivated to work out, it’s probably because you’re not doing the right workout for you, so considering trying something different.
3. You feel excessively sore and tired.
Don’t hear me wrong here. Your workout should push you, and a few sore muscles here and there is to be expected. But if you are incorporating a rest day as needed and are supporting your nutrition effectively but still find yourself feeling sore and tired, you may need to reevaluate your workout and try something a little less aggressive to give your body time to recover.
Finding Different Workout Options
Reading that list, I am checking all of the boxes…So I’m finishing out this last week of Round ✌🏼 of my functional fitness program, and then I’ll be switching gears and committing to a program that will be all about tuning in and listening to my body and what it needs!
And thankfully with my Netflix of fitness, I have the option to switch it up anytime I want! 🙌🏼 You may remember me mentioning this option a few months ago, but if you don’t, you really should check out ALL OF THE DETAILS! This option has been THE BEST solution for me recently and has really helped me align my workout choices to my goals and what my body NEEDS! And isn’t that what it’s all about anyway?
