A Healthy Way to Detox

I don’t know about you, but every once in a while I just need a little detox. Whether it’s after vacation, a big birthday weekend, or even a major holiday, sometimes I just need something to clean out my system and help me get back on track with my goals. In the past, detox typically meant starvation for me, but with my recent focus on nutrition and really caring for my body, I wanted a better way, a healthier way to detox. So, I gave the 3-Day Refresh a try, and it’s my new go-to when I need a little system reset.

We can all use a reset to our nutrition periodically. This detox will help you do that with a combo of shakes, a fiber supplement, and nutrient-dense foods.

What Is the 3-Day Refresh?

The 3-Day Refresh is a unique detox plan that includes a whole-food meal replacement shake (Shakeology), a fiber supplement, fruits, veggies, and healthy fats. It’s not a starvation cleanse, but rather it is a system based on whole-food nutrition that has you consuming something literally every hour or so. It gives your body the boost of probiotics and nutrient-dense foods it needs to reset itself and help you get back on track with your weight management and nutrition goals.

Like the name suggests, it’s a 3-day program that is over before you know it. And with all of the benefits it offers, it’s definitely worth trying at least once. It’s designed to be a way to break the cycle of bad eating and get a jump on healthy weight loss, but the benefits go so far beyond that.

My Experience and Results with this Healthy Detox

The first time I tried the program was right after my daughter’s first birthday. I had put together an ice cream sundae themed party complete with homemade ice cream, a sweet little smash cake, and all of the sundae toppings you can imagine, so naturally I indulged a little more than I should have.

I started the Refresh on Monday, and once I completed it, I had lost 7 pounds. But, not just that! By the end of the 3 days, the mental fog was gone, and I felt so much more in control of my food choices! For me the benefits included:

  • Improved taste of food
  • More energy

What Does the Refresh Involve?

When most people hear “detox” they get a little scared and shy away. But the Refresh really makes it so simple. In the program, you get a guide that outlines everything you need to do and when to eat what to make your experience as effective as possible. To give you a little better idea of what to expect, here are a few more details.

The program involves a combination of shakes, a fiber supplement, and nutrient-dense foods/meals. Refresh-approved items that you’ll need to have on hand include:

  • Water
  • Shakeology
  • Green tea
  • Vegetables – carrots, red peppers, green beans, etc.
  • Fruits – bananas, grapes, etc.

Foods and beverages you’ll need to avoid for the 3 days of the challenge:

  • Dairy
  • Sugar
  • Bread
  • Starch (Rice, corn, potatoes, etc.)
  • Processed or canned foods

Throughout the three days of the cleanse, you consume three meals per day, with two snacks in between. There is also an optional tea option three times a day.

What’s the Best Way to Use the 3-Day Refresh?

The 3-Day Refresh is designed to be use a few different ways. As a detox option, it’s great to use at the beginning of a new weight loss program to really jumpstart your weight loss and help readjust your taste buds. Beyond that, though, you can use it as regularly as one time a month to regulate your weight loss. Others prefer to use it once every 3 months as a little reset.

I personally prefer to use it as needed (but no more frequently than once a month). With the holidays coming up, I’m strategically planning my Refreshes to coincide. Because Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that involves many of my favorite foods, I plan to stay on track leading up to the holiday, take Thanksgiving off and enjoy it, and then start the Refresh following Thanksgiving. I know this strategy will let me allow my holiday and then get right back on track so I can go into the rest of the holiday season feeling and looking my best.
