Find Your Happy Healthy Mom Place

I remember feeling like I just didn’t know where I fit as a brand new mom. Everyone who came over would say the same thing…”Isn’t being a mom just the greatest thing you ever did?” And while I agreed with them, I also couldn’t shake the feeling of being an imposter.

I felt like a stranger in my own skin. I’d look in the mirror and see a body that didn’t look like it used to and that I wasn’t sure was ever really going to feel like mine again. And while I loved my new mama role, I also couldn’t help but feel like there had to be something more to life than spit up and holey yoga pants.

So I embarked on a mission to find where I fit again and in the process, I found what I like to think of as my happy healthy mom place. What does that mean?

Well, I found a space where I can be myself, where I’m able to feel my best and do my best every day. I found a happy healthy mom space that gives me energy and joy. I found a space where I am able to embrace my role as mama while I run hard after goals and help other women do the same.

So how do you find it? Well, for me it involved getting plugged in with a group of other women who are passionate about the same things I am and making it my mission to serve other women in the process. But if you’re not quite ready for all of that, these tips should help you find yours too!

1. Identify your priorities.
2. Set goals for the short and long term.
3. Get active – whether it’s a workout or dancing with your kids!
4. Fuel your body with whole, real foods.
5. Clear the clutter and make space.
6. Take a few minutes of me time.
7. Read something that challenges you.
8. Put on something that makes you feel beautiful.
9. Capture a small win.
10. Invest in someone else.

Obviously, health looks different to all of us. But one thing holds true for everyone…Health is more than just fitness and nutrition. Hopefully these suggestions will help you recognize that and start thinking more about what that space of health and happiness look like for you as a mom.
